Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences (SeAMK) and its School of Food and Agriculture hosts ERIAFF-networks annual conference June 11th-13th 2018 in Seinäjoki.
Themed Food Safety 2020, conference gathers more than hundred experts around Europe and is an opportunity for everyone involved in the food sector from all European regions to gather and exchange knowledge on food safety issues, and meet partners and stakeholders. The three core conference themes – high-tech agriculture, nutrition and big data – provide an integrated approach to present innovative solutions to food safety. The conference will provide networking opportunities for food entrepreneurs, researchers, regional authorities and decision makers via lectures, workshops, matchmaking and site visits.
Quest speakers represent technology industries, research institutes, European organizations in food sector and people working in regional development. The most known Finnish speakers are Pentti Hyttinen, Director General in the Finnish State Forest Enterprise and Pekka Pesonen, Secretary General of Copa, representing European farmers, and Cogeca, representing European agri-cooperatives.
The ERIAFF conference is part of SeAMK School of Food and Agricultures International Week and is organized along with Food Business Summit for food system professionals.
For SeAMK hosting an international conference means a lot.
“This is a valuable opportunity to network with European food safety experts and strengthens our work in RDI. Hopefully we will have new projects, contacts and ideas for co-operation as a result”, says Elina Koivisto, Project Manager in SeAMK.
The ERIAFF network was launched on September 19th 2012 in Florence by a core group of 24 European Regions, at the initiative of the Regional Government of Tuscany. The main objective is to strengthen the performance of the European Innovation partnership for Agricultural Productivity and Sustainability (EIP AGRI) by acting as a facilitator for information flow and creation of links among stakeholders across their regions as well as across the European Union and to develop interregional Operational Groups (EIP AGRI) with common priorities and goals.
Operational groups are introduced to gather multiple actors such as farmers, researchers, advisers, businesses and NGOs to enhance innovation in the agricultural and forestry sectors. To that scope, ERIAFF Regions are committed to exchange information about relevant innovation priorities and create synergies through their policy and funding tools.
