Three virtual events - this week is about international cooperation
This week is Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences’ week of international cooperation. The three virtually organized entities bring together SeAMK’s international partners, stakeholders and networks around current themes.
The SeAMK Virtual International Week – Sustainability and Digitalization in Higher Education, which started on Monday, will focus on digitalisation and sustainability in international cooperation of higher education institutions (HEIs). The theme highlights the importance of higher education institutions in training skilled experts, especially from the perspective of sustainable production and consumption, and as a key to the research and development work carried out by higher education institutions to meet new challenges.
During the week, the DG Education and DG Connect from the European Commission will elaborate on Sustainability and Digitalization in Europe and for HEIs. They will focus on the new Erasmus+ Programme for 2021-2027, Digital Europe Programme and the role of HEIs in it, as well as on European Universities Initiative enhancing HEI collaboration tackling the societal challenges. The Finnish National Agency for Education will highlight the role of higher educational institutions in achieving the sustainable development goals. SeAMK Principal Lecturers/Senior Researchers will present our key competence and RDI areas in digitalization and sustainability vis-à-vis growth entrepreneurship, digital manufacturing and industrial Internet of Things, health technology and food safety. SeAMK’s international partners – such as Tallinn University of Technology (EE), Chiba University (JP), and Smart Sensors 4 Agri-Food – European Thematic Smart Specialization Partnership – present their expertise in sustainability and digitalization vis-à-vis education, research and development.
More than 200 representatives of SeAMK’s international partners from 39 different countries have registered to follow the ongoing programme.
In addition to the main programme, there is also a unit-specific programme. Teachers at SeAMK’s partner universities give lectures to our students. As part of SeAMK’s international week, SeAMK Virtual Language Week is held. The event focuses on language teaching. SeAMK School of Health Care and Social Work has its own Virtual Intensive Course – Perspectives on Health promotion in Finland and Japan with the participation of nursing students and teachers from SeAMK and Tokyo Medical and Dental University.
