Tuition fees and scholarship scheme at SeAMK
The following tuition fees and scholarship scheme concerns students admitted to SeAMK in the year 2024. The tuition fee and scholarship information for continuing students (admitted during the academic year 2023 or earlier) can be found in SeAMK's Intra.
Who needs to pay?
Non-EU/EEA citizens, who confirm that they accept the study place in an English-taught Bachelor or Master degree programme are charged tuition fees. There is no tuition fee for EU/EEA citizens, exchange students or double degree students.
Tuition fee is applicable to degree students who are not citizens of countries of the European Union (EU), European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland. You are exempted from paying tuition fees if you have one of the documents mentioned below:
- Passport or identity card to indicate the citizenship of EU/EEA/Switzerland*
- Continuous residence permit card in Finland, type A permit, granted on other grounds than studies
- Permanent residence permit card in Finland, type P permit
- EU Family Member’s Residence Card in Finland
- EU residence permit for third-country citizens with long-term residence permit card in Finland (Type P-EU)
- EU Blue Card in Finland
*Citizens of Finland do not need to provide a copy of their passport/ID.
To be exempted from paying the tuition fee for the academic year 2024-2025, the document must be valid on 1 August 2024. New students, who are admitted to studies starting in autumn 2024, need to provide a document mentioned above by 11 July 2024, 15.00 (UTC+3) at the latest. Upload the document on your application form in section “Copies of the accepted student’s all relevant certificates”.
Notice, if you receive one of the documents mentioned above during the application period or later during your studies, please provide the document to tuitionfees@seamk.fi. You will be exempted from paying the tuition fees, if you deliver the exempting document according to the following guidelines:
- For the autumn semester, the exempting document shall be delivered on 31 July at the latest, and it shall be valid at least on 1 August.
- For the spring semester, the exempting document shall be delivered on 31 December at the latest, and it shall be valid at least on 1 January.

How much is the tuition fee?
Students admitted in 2024 will be charged the following tuition fees at Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences:
- Bachelor degree programmes conducted in English: 9500 € per academic year
- Master degree programmes conducted in English: 11 500 € per academic year

How to pay the tuition fee?
First year degree students need to pay the tuition fee at the same time when accepting the study place. The tuition fee must be paid in one installment. For the following study years, the tuition fee must be paid in one installment yearly when registering for the next academic year.
The student is responsible for paying possible bank service charges. Thus the payment must cover both the tuition fee and any transfer charges or other charges collected by the bank.
Scholarship scheme for Bachelor-degree students admitted in 2024
Early Bird -scholarship for first year students:
There is an Early Bird scholarship for the first year students at SeAMK. Early Bird scholarship will concern students admitted in 2024. Early Bird scholarship is 10 % of the tuition fee. Early Bird-scholarship in a Bachelor degree programme is 950 € in the first academic year.
The Early Bird -scholarship is available for the students, who will:
- accept the study place offered by SeAMK within 7 days of notice of admission and
- pay the tuition fee within 28 days of notice of admission and
- register as an attending student for the first academic year.
Please note, that the Early Bird scholarship is not available for applicants admitted in Joint Application or SeAMK Direct Application on 1.6.2024 or after, or for applicants admitted in SeAMK Additional Application.

Language proficiency scholarship
A continuing student at SeAMK can apply for a language proficiency scholarship. SeAMK’s language scholarship aims to encourage students to learn the Finnish language in order to advance future employment of international degree students in Finland.
The language scholarship can be applied for three times during the bachelor-studies at SeAMK. Finnish studies in a Bachelor degree programme at SeAMK start from beginner level Finnish and aim for the level of A1 and A2. The third scholarship aims for the student to have their Finnish language skills at level B1 which requires the student to be active in learning the Finnish language alongside the studies offered at SeAMK (for example active use of the Finnish language in everyday life or additional studies). The third scholarship can be applied for by completing a national certificate of language proficiency in Finnish language (YKI-test) on the intermediate level with grade 3 or 4 and attach the copy of the certificate to the scholarship application. Amount of the scholarships:
- 2000 €
- 2500 €
- 3000 €
The language tests for the two first scholarships of levels A1 and A2 will be organized at SeAMK.
Please note:
- a student is eligible to receive this scholarship when she /he has shown her/his language skills within the right-to-study period
- a student has paid the tuition fee for the academic year in question

Early Bird -discount of a continuing student
Registration period for the next academic year is 1.3.-31.5. The Early Bird -discount of a continuing student is eligible for students that pay their tuition fee for the next academic year during the month of March (1.3.-31.3.) in the SeAMK web shop. The amount of the Early Bird -discount for a continuing student is 10 % of the annual tuition fee:
- Bachelor degree programmes conducted in English: Early Bird -discount is 950 € per academic year
A student whose studies exceed the agreed examination date can get the Early Bird -discount for one extra semester.
Scholarship scheme for Master-degree students admitted in 2024

The Early Bird -scholarship is available for the students, who will:

Please note, that if you cancel your residence permit application yourself, tuition fee will not be refunded (Tuition fee refund policy, point 2.).

When do I need to pay the tuition fee?
First year degree students need to pay the tuition fee at the same time when accepting the study place. For the following study years, the tuition fee must be paid yearly in one installment when registering for the next academic year during the registration period of 1.3. – 31.5. Students liable for tuition fees shall be sent directions by email for registering for the academic year by using an e-form at a time between 1 March – 31 May.

Can I pay my tuition fee in two or more installments?
At SeAMK, tuition fees are paid in one installment. Tuition fees are paid during the registration period for the entire academic year.

Can I have more time to pay my tuition fees?
Tuition fees need to be paid according to the schedule of registering for the academic year. If a student fails to pay their tuition fee on time, they will lose their right to study.

Can my tuition fee be transferred for another academic year or semester?
Tuition fees cannot be transferred to another academic year or semester. Tuition fees apply to the academic year that they have been paid for.
